Kerry has asked McCain as recently as late last month to consider becoming his running mate, but the Arizona senator said he's not interested.

It is notable, however, how Kerry would want a conservative as a running mate. That is NOT a bad idea, from my perspective. It wouldn't win my vote, but it certainly could indicate better working relationships between Dems and Republicans. . .then again, cynic as I am, I wouldn't bet the house on it.
